"i'm not the man you think I am" *** For you. I think i've finally learned my lesson.

to make their lives seem meaningful

Bonnie Blue Myrtle Krum

goodbye myrtle. you've been the sweetest kindest most wonderful dog a family could ever hope for. sometimes i think you were too good for us. i hope there's an animal heaven even though i don't believe in that shit. i like to imagine you will lounge around with sadie, max and cosmo and be served friend eggs and salmon whenever you want. i am offially declaring this one of the worst weeks of the year. the weekend better be fucking great cause i'm all out of fake smiles.

horoscope for scorpio

Lately you've really come into your own, but this process, while rewarding, can also be challenging. There are people or situations that you'd like to take for granted or regard as secure, but these foundations have to change in order to allow real growth. Keep yourself pointed in the right direction through all these changes, and you'll see the kind of self-fulfillment that you've only dreamed about start to emerge.

making time

every year i anticipate but never remember exactly how much fall stirs my soul. Sun Kil Moon - "Carry Me Ohio" Sorry that I could never love you back I could never care enough In these last days Her tears fell On her pages found me out About her words I don't know what To do or say Wading through Warm canals and pools, clear blue The Tuscarawas flows into The Great Lake Riding back To where the highway met Dead-end tracks The ground is now cement and glass So far away Heal her soul Carry her, my angel Ohio Green, green youth What about the sweetness we knew? What about what's good, what's true From those days Can't count to All the lovers I've burned through So why do I still burn for you I can't say Sorry that I could never love you back I could never care enough In these last days Heal her soul Carry her, my angel Ohio Children blessed Gather round the home, she rests So poor and cold With their Midwest Moon and sun Flashes bringin' on My open ey...

HOUSE PARTY TIME

WACKY WORLD

The word wacky keeps showing up and it makes me laugh. My boss sais perhaps part of my soreness from tuesday is because I laughed a lot, I think I did laugh quite a bit. oh funny funny. I cried on the edge of Packi's bed this morning because it hurt so much to get up and move. I was being a baby, but this is really is the most intense physical consequence I've suffered due to drinking. (I think that is the cause.) AND WE HAVE A SHOW TONIGHT!? The Grisly Hand at Riot Room TONIGHT, i'm trying to find out when now. There is a pair of muddy shoes that someone abandoned at the helm of the parking lot adjacent to boulevard. Rockfest litter. I checked today, after pulling into the right lane on Penn Valley Parkway, for the spot where the dog died last summer. I expected it to be harder to find, but there's a clear spot where no grass is growing. lYFE. At least i have coffee and started an intriguing if not entirely well writen book called "Dark Places" that is basica...

Perhaps It's My Calling

I Survived is terrifying. Driving around last night with Patrick I had all kinds of memories. It was as if the moisture in the air was holding a bunch of memories, almost tangible. I love spring and fall. Who doesn't? I finished the application for the house I think i want to move into. I hope hope hope we get it. $600.00 a month. YES. Fenced in front yard, sun porch, brand new everything. The basement did look terrifying, but the washer/dryer hookups are on the first floor! I still need to check it with kc patrol and make sure it's not rapes-r-us. it's only a few blocks from my house so i doubt it. I am going to go finish making a flier and maybe practice some piano. My life is not exciting. Please go to the show at Davey's at 9:30 pm if you have 3 bucks and some free time tomorrow.

::vomit sound::

stop it. gack. this weekend was really pretty fun. too cold of course, but the arkestra show was colorful and fun and i got to see a lot of fun peeps. i hope the next show is warm and we can actually be the summertime choir. more music this week! i sing a few songs wed with david regnier at davey's and i've got practice for 3 upcoming grisly or summers shows. i bought a vanity. i just set it up in my room. i feel like an adult (a little) because i bought my first antique! tra la la.

choose free will

um i have no clue what you're talking about and it is therefore, extremely boring. show tonight. i am trying to get read. Besides the fact that i'm sitting here... i shaved my pits but i missed like 35 hairs so i have to go stand in front of the mirror and give it a round 2. "shaaa-aving!" remember that time BSC was chock full of vaguely racist-against-the-Irish humor?

jazz on satellite

my coworker's music is pushing me to levels of musical hatred i didn't know i had. ZYDENO. thankfully the satellite channels provided me with a "jazz" option: safe, simple, no white dudes from the midwest trying to sing in french, no old black men singing acapella and no accordion solos. happy monday babies

martha martha martha!

"Apply yourself, your irresistible energy and radiant confidence to getting rid of some mildly unfortunate habits that were once comfortable, but are just now starting to chafe. The familiar can easily become a prison if you let it stop you from exploring different possibilities. The universe is pushing you to grow and change, which means letting go something you think you really need." obsessed this week with Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. they are definitely one of the more prominent girl groups, but it's SO well deserved. Martha Reeves' voice is so warm and energetic! here's my favorite track, "Hitch Hike" from "Dancing in the Streets" the album I recently acquired. "Got no money in my pocket, so I'm gonna have to hitch hike all the way!" Not such a great plan in 2010, especially if you watch "I Survived", but oh well. This track, "Motoring" is a close 2nd in my heart and I plan to sing this with Brandy ...

Dead Voices: Alive & Well

Image
Happy to report that i was quite pleased with my decision to catch E.I.O. and Dead Voices at Davey's Uptown last night. E.I.O. (http://www.myspace.com/experimentalinstrumentorchestra)features Amy Farrand (of American Catastrophe) and Mark Smeltzer, who's epic beard and rotating collection of one of a kind instruments will be familiar to fans of The Brick's Monday night "Rural Grit" happy hour. They played about half a dozen songs, just enough to reel you in, get you interested and leave you wondering what just happened (or what that instrument was.) Slightly dissonant strings and percussion roughly rapped on the body of guitars form a hypnotic almost, dare i say, sensual, backdrop for Smeltzer's commanding if even jarring voice which can soar from an accusatory scream to a whisper of anticipation on a dime. Amy only sang a couple of songs but has a voice to be reckoned with as well. Definitely catch this totally home grown and daring duo! Dead Voices has now s...

Brakesbrakesbrakes "Touchdown"

Image
"All i grew is disillusioned and a little bit older", sings Eamon Hamilton on the opening track of Brakesbrakesbrakes' third album "Touchdown". Though i'm late on this April 2009 release (hey, i'm catching up!) the sentiment is timeless. I'd call this indie rock if it didn't make it sound so boring. From angular and simmering, ala Jesus and Mary Chain, they move seamlessly into a more garage sound, best expemplified on the exciting and brief "Red Rag" and further still into warm, toe-tapping country tinged on tracks like "Eternal Return" and "Crush on You." The lyrics are clever, their harmonies are delightful, the songs are succinct and Hamilton's voice would please fans of Clinic or Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel.) If this band became a dude it'd be your friend's older brother circa 96 who always wears the same comfortable sweater and likes star wars but also rips at guitar. At their worst they have a...
