Buried In Teeth

this year isn't starting out that well, but it feels like a bad morning when you don't want to adopt that shitty attitude and fuck the rest of the day over. it feels like that but it's hard to be positive. i feel very helpless and aware of all of our powerlessness which can be good somehow i know, but in this instance, not yet, not now. i just want to hug her. i want to pray to candyland jesus on marshmallow clouds to listen to just me and see that my problems are more important than millions and millions of people's problems. i want to believe the world is fair.

i want to ( i say this all the time ) get back to keeping this blog as a music blog. i miss writing reviews and pretending anyone likes to read about music.

Jan 28th - 9 pm Brick: Blue Boot Heelers, Grisly Hand & Adam Lee & TDHSC
Jan 29th (*SUN) - 8 pm(?) Record Bar: TALKING HEADS TRIBUTE SHOW (I'm singing with Dead Voices sans David, fronted by Betse Ellis.)

Starting this Sunday Grisly is finishing our 3 tracks that Chas laid down drums for with Mike Tuley.

Feb 11th - 9 pm Juggernaut 45 VINYL RELEASE PARTY/LIVE RECORDING?

"Animal Tracks" by Mountain Man just came on my iPod. I miss David.

i wish i had the bones for a ticket to their Starlight show. i'm playing Funeral at work right now. i talked to nick d. the other night about how i abandoned this album because it made me too sad but i think i can enjoy it now. i do miss richie & wyndra when i hear certain songs. Funeral and Good News for People Who Love Bad News (Modest Mouse) came out right around that time. shitty 2004. going to see cellist Helen Gillet ("jill-lay") from New Orleans tonight at Grunauer. Ye ol' german restaurant.

Strumming On Your Old Guitar

Lately I've started playing guitar again. Like most things in my life it just hits me like a wave and it didn't take much trying it just started when I decided it ought to. I'm not good but I'm playing daily and learning some of the Lorna covers. I'm playing my mother's 3/4 Guild guitar - she got it in high school I think - maybe college. As I've been playing it's sort of reconnected a nerve to my past and forced me to revisit the person I used to be. I kind of abandoned myself in Chicago in some ways. There wasn't a super solid girl to leave behind there but there was most definitely something lost. Like I said before about the waves once I came back to KC I holed up and cried my tears and boiled with shame and then one day I just hit the ground running and The Grisly Hand began.
